Out of the darkness

I went thru life day by day in darkness.
Then you came like an angel full of light,
bringing with you such joy and happiness
than I have only read about.

When I was around you I felt care-free and light,
being with a spirit that I could share my secrets,
my most hidden desires and dreams.

But then you vanished, left without a trace.
Day by day I waited, waiting to hear from you,
too see you, while my heart slowly breaks.

Then one day I look around to find,
only to find myself in darkness once again.

Now the time has come to pick up the pieces,
those pieces of my heart from when you left.

I find almost every piece but one,
the piece I had given to you.
No matter how much I try,
I shall never get that piece back.

I do not hate you or wish you ill.
You opened up a part of me,
a part I never knew existed.

And for that I will always thank you.

Probably not so much poetry as I would have liked it to be, but was my first attempt.

Even if you won't get that one missing piece back, I hope you'll get a replacement from someone new who makes you whole again.

That was fantastic for a 1st attempt!

And we have all been there and can relate. Our poor fragile hearts.....

But we do go on! Maybe not as confident...maybe with walls to keep from being hurt.
