You're a whiney little slut, aren't you, abitbent? *gg* Please, I'm just kidding!

    1) The use of the word "one" or "one's" when people try to describe a persons actions or feelings. "It all depends on how it affects one's feelings..." This conotation pops up all over the place and it drives me crazy.

Yes, it does sound a bit uppity really doesn't it? Very fake... very royal.

    2) At some point, in every BDSM story, you'll read this sentence "I stepped back to admire my handiwork."

I know that 'H' word bugs a lot of people.

    3) Political correctness gone bezerk when P/people decide that it's appropriate to make sure T/they don't offend O/others by using ambiguous C/capital and S/small letters. Give it a rest, we get the point.

Yes, that does seem a little bit silly, doesn't it? I guess it's come about from people using lower/upper case with their names to indicate their one line statis. Like you say it's gone totally bezerk.

    4) People who reffer to themselves as the third person. (especially submissives) "Sir, this little one would humbly request to go to bed." "This ones stomach is grumbling because she's hungry." ARRRG! I know this is heavy in the Gor lifestyle, but it drives me batty.

    THIS DRIVES ME NUTS!

    5) The need for people to try and impress by using old victorian English while in chat or posts. "How is thou this eve?" Please folks, Hamlet has left the building.

THIS DRIVES ME DOUBLE NUTS! "Hamlet has left the building"? *ROFL* That's a good one, mind if I use it some time?

    6) Mistresses seeking financial slaves. Enough said.

You mean I can actually make money out there, on line???

    7) Chat rooms that are dominated by a couple cyber playing in the main chat window. Private message windows are a wonderful thing and free of charge.

It's called voyeurism and exhibitionism. Personally, it's not really my thing either, but who are we to knock other people's kinks.

    8) Unrealistic scenarios of D/s portrayed as everyday activities. "My Dom makes me kneel in the corner on thumbtacks for 10 hours for punishment"

What ever turns you on... or in your case - what ever turns you off. *ss*

    9) Fakes, Professionals and attention getters who aren't into BDSM because they've known for a very long time that they were different, but are here for profit, thrill or boredom alone.

I don't think on line is the only place you're going to find fakes and idiots.

    10) BDSM preachers who claim that their views are the way it should be, and you should share in that opinion.

I can't stand them either. I just simply loath people who can't comprehend that I am always right - especially men! *gg*

    11) The stigma that all submissive men are sissies, whimps and doormats. Some of us kneel proudly and strongly, but only for the right person.

    Please, see my 'Wimps?' thread.

Alex, could you point out one or two alternative expressions please? It is so tempting to directly translate from the German (very common) 'man' to the English (apparently weird sounding) 'one'. I am trying to improve my style and not pick up too many horrid mannerisms.

    Online Pet peeves...

ranting and raving is good for the soul, so here goes.

I really hate when people use "secret" little words that have been created especially for the cyber world. Some of them are easy to learn, like LoL or Rofl etc. but at some point I really have to say enough is enough!
Now of course these little darlings save time typing, but I really get p'ed off when taking the time to write say 30 words to convey a message and after waiting for 2 minutes, you get a *LoL* or some other dumbass excuse for a reply. I mean really, are we just going to start communicating like that all the time now? will a online-sub just start sending "ibabgpsm" in stead of "i've been a bad girl please spank me"? Yikes, I hope not... what if that spills over into the real world... granted, meetings at work would be more efficient if I can simply go *LMAO* and raise a picture of a smiley puking his guts out.
Regarding time saved during typing... its a bit one sided... the time saved typing on one end is spent trying to figure out what the little three letter bastard actually means, and for that matter how its relevant to the conversation I'm trying to have.

OMGTDGLTE!! (O My God That Did Get Longer Than Expected)

    Cheers

Chatroom-speak may be convenient in chatrooms. Zero time pressure on a forum, thank all the Muses of Typing, Editing and Proofreading!

I hate it more than that when people say 'u' instead of 'you' or 'r' instead of 'are'...seriously, it takes a half a second to type out a whole word...why not? am I not worthy of it? It's not just those simple words, I hate when people use abbreviations or try to shorten up words...nobody can be that lazy, and it pretty much tells me I'm not worth typing out the whole word for you know?

Great thread of pet peeves. I have all these listed too. I am fortunate to never have been in BDSM chat rooms to experience much of what you are all talking about. But, when I started coming to message boards like this one and others I thought that caps speak was the thing to do and I hated it. Thankfully I quickly learned how annoying it is to others so I stopped.

I agree completely, most abbreviations dont bother me; but those to i cannot deal with. The other one is gr8 or sk8er, why cant people just type out those letters, its only a few more to write!
The worst has to be waz though.... why do it, your not typing out another letter, your just changing one to make the word look strange!

    Hee hee

only one I have to disagree with is I'm a mistress with a financial slave. Though I do switch on occasion to let him release some of his frustrations.

It just worked out that way, but I do enjoy all these bon bons I'm supposedly eating. I did once work outside the home, but it put a serious crimp in our play time, so I quit.

The whole rules thing drives me nuts because we switch. Anything goes at our house. And formality limits spontaneity

So happy to find the boards are back, they were misplaced earlier.

"One" is how some people like to refer to themselves -often in an attempt to sound more sophisticated. The English royals are very fond of doing this. Instead of saying, "I do enjoy champagne and caviar", His or Her Royal Highness might say, "One does enjoy champagne and caviar."

"Uppity" is a rather derogatory way of saying snobbish and/or arogant. It's typically used to describe people have nothing to be snobbish about.

ok I am guilty of number one. but that is actualy how I talk! and I am also guitly of number three but only in my intial greeting in a room. hi A/all is all the captialzation I can muster, I dont even capitalize names. something that buges me and I am not sure if it is just an online thing or if its like this in offline groups as well but I hate when ppl look down on ppl who arnt submissive on a full time real time bases. I am submissive sexualy but in almost every other way I dominate the relationship. I dont think this makes me a part time submissive. someone once sugested I read some of the gorian novels. I cant stand them. though norman did wright a great book for sexual roleplaying that didnt fall into the gorian catagory. I tend to over use chat room shorthand, because I cant spell. and have been known to "L o L" outloud in conversation, does that mean I spend to much time online?
