Plot is important if I am going to read far, but sometimes I'm just in the mood for some stimulation.
In that case plot becomes secondary; however, if the writing is poor, not very imaginative and full of cliches, I can't get past those problems to enjoy the content.

Stimulate my mind with your ideas. Stroke my imagination with your descriptions. Touch my innermost thoughts with your words.

That's what arouses.
