I'm still of the opinion, you can't really give yourself enough pain with certain things to really know where your threshold lies.
But there are ways to give yourself pain.
Clothes pins are the standard staple, try putting clothespins on your nipples and getting a stack of hardcover books, lie down with your chest on the books.
Make a zipper with clothespins, attach the string of the zipper to a door or any stationary object. Close the door or walk away to pull off the pins.
Or just rip them off.
Use candle wax and pour it on your sensitive parts. I find this hard to do, because I flinch before I do it, so I always miss.
Stick as many ice cubes up your butt as you can. I find that painful.
Wear a bra with sandpaper inside. Maybe not painful, but definately irritating.
And of course the old precautionary, never wear the clothespins longer than fifteen minutes at a time.
Use proper candles.
